Q: what's a trrs laptop?
A: Any laptop with a single 1/8" (3.5mm) jack intended for a headset. That's likely all of them now, but earlier laptops had separate mic & headphone 1/8" jacks. There are adapter cable you can buy that convert 2 jack laptops to 1, so it's just an obstacle, not an impossibility if it is not TRRS. Q: what voip app should I use? A: I hear discord was used a lot during covid, and it's free. Anything that has a group voice chat ability would work. Q: Will it work with other brands besides clearcom(tm)? A: The R** company reverses the gender of the 4 pin, so you would need a 4 pin XLR turnaround. It also reverses the speaker connections, which would technically make it out of phase, but since you can't hear the original audio being spoken, you wouldn't notice anything. Most of the compatibles use the same 4 pin pinout. |
